How to Replace / Reset the Turntable Belt on the Saturn V Jukebox
Update - Dec 2025
If you notice that the turntable is not rotating properly or the playback speed appears unstable, please follow the troubleshooting steps below. In most cases, this issue is caused by the drive belt shifting during transportation or normal use.
Step 1 — Remove the Platter Retaining Clip
-
Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the retaining clip that secures the platter.
-
The clip has two grooves on its surface.
-
Insert the screwdriver into one of the grooves and gently apply pressure against the center spindle to release the clip.
⚠ Do not use excessive force.
Step 2 — Lift the Platter
Carefully lift the platter to check whether the drive belt has slipped off or become misaligned.
Step 3 — Reposition the Belt
-
Place the belt back along the underside of the platter.
-
Ensure the belt sits centered and level around the platter base.
Incorrect positioning may cause rotation fluctuation or unstable speed.
Step 4 — Attach the Belt to the Motor Pulley
-
Use one finger to hook the belt from the right side of the platter.
-
Carefully loop the belt onto the gold motor pulley (shaft).
Step 5 — Reinstall the Platter
After attaching the belt, place the platter back onto the center spindle.
Step 6 — Align the Belt
Rotate the platter two full turns by hand.
This allows the belt to settle naturally and align evenly underneath.
Step 7 — Test Playback
Try playing a record to confirm that the belt is properly installed and the platter rotates smoothly.
If the belt slips off again, repeat the steps above to ensure correct positioning.
Step 8 — Reinstall the Retaining Clip
Once proper operation is confirmed, reinstall the retaining clip to secure the platter.
Important Notes
-
Belt displacement is a common occurrence in belt-drive turntables during shipping or extended use.
-
A misaligned belt may cause visible wobbling or incorrect rotation speed.
-
Proper belt alignment will restore normal operation.
